Bethel Thompson now former Argos QB, announces he’ll play in USFL | Globalnews.ca

McLeod Bethel-Thompson is leaving the Toronto Argonauts on a winning note, announcing on social media Wednesday he’ll play with the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers in 2023. Bethel-Thompson became a CFL free agent earlier this month after helping Toronto win the 2022 Grey Cup. He cited wanting to be closer to his family and the opportunity to play with them by his side as the main reasons for his decision. Bethel-Thompson had spent the last five seasons with Toronto, becoming a bona-fide starter in 2021, winning seven-of-nine starts and leading the franchise to a 9-5 record and first-place finish in the East Division. He leaves the CFL having played 74 career regular-season games, completing 1,125 of 1,683 passes for 13,261 yards with 70 touchdowns, and 49 interceptions. Bethel-Thompson paid tribute to everyone associated with the Argos and Canada, saying it was an honour and a privilege to get to know the CFL.
