The United States has expressed its commitment to strengthening its economic ties with Pakistan, and the 9th Pakistan-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement Council ministerial meeting is currently underway in Washington DC. The meeting is the first ministerial level meeting in 7 years, and both sides are looking for breakthroughs in agriculture and information technology. The US has long been Pakistan’s largest export market and has been a leading investor in Pakistan for the past two decades. In the past year, US investments in Pakistan increased by 50%. The Foreign Office also responded to US concerns over Chinese debt and emphasized Pakistan\’s right to choose its economic partners from around the globe on a mutually-beneficial basis. China has been a long-time strategic partner of Pakistan and both countries are proud of their friendship.
