Russia\’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently returned from an extensive trip to Africa, where he campaigned to intensify the partnership with Russia. He urged African states to emancipate themselves from their former colonial masters, and Russia presented itself as an alternative pole to the West. Russia\’s attempts to establish relationships with African countries shows that their attempts to isolate themselves from the West have been unsuccessful.
