Discovery of massive early galaxies defies prior understanding of the universe

Scientists have discovered six massive galaxies in the early universe, upending what was previously understood about galaxy formation. Using the first dataset from NASA\’s James Webb Space Telescope, the international team of scientists found objects as mature as the Milky Way when the universe was only 3% of its current age. This discovery calls into question the models for cosmology and the scientific understanding of galaxy formation in the early universe. To confirm their findings, the team needs to take a spectrum image of the massive galaxies.
