On the morning of 22nd February in Barakhana district of Balochistan, a shootout in a market resulted in 4 fatalities and 12 injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital while security forces started to investigate the area. The type of shootout has yet to be determined, with 8 of the injured in a critical condition. This incident follows the death of two police personnel in the same district just a day ago.
At the start of the week, security forces killed eight suspected militants during a combing operation. Media wing of the military in Balochistan province said that on the same day, armed militants attacked a convoy of security forces in Kech district. In response, the security forces launched a swift operation which resulted in the militants fleeing the scene, without causing any casualties. However, they did use land and air assets to aid their escape.
ISPR reported that on the morning of 23rd February, a suspected hideout of militants was detected in Mazhabi Range, where a security operation was launched. After an exchange of heavy firing, 8 militants were killed and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. ISPR further added that Pakistan Security Forces will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the peace achieved through hard work in the province.
