    Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, recently criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for destroying the economy and asked the rulers to bring back the country’s “looted money” stashed abroad. He warned the government that the economic situation would not improve by the government’s cosmetic measures and that the coalition government had destroyed the economy within 10 months. Imran also urged the masses to come out and defend the Constitution if the election would not be held in 90 days of the dissolution of the assemblies. To do so, he launched the ‘Jail Bharo’ movement which was initiated to break the shackles of fear and to bring a revolution.     Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has lambasted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the dire economic situation of the country and urged the government to bring back the \”looted money\” stashed abroad. Khan expressed confidence that his party would come into power, and vowed to hold the incumbent rulers accountable when they do. He criticised the government\’s austerity measures and said that the economic situation would not improve with the government\’s cosmetic measures. He also held the rulers and their facilitators responsible for all the wrongdoings in the country, including inflation, a failing economy, and low inflow of remittances. Khan criticised the government\’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and said that the prime minister was asking people for sacrifices, he should rather render sacrifices. He also spoke about the upcoming elections and criticised Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja\’s role in not issuing the schedule for the polls.   • Balochistan minister held over recovery of bodies in Barkhan | The Express Tribune

    Three bullet-riddled bodies were recovered in Balochistan\’s Barkhan district on Monday night. Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran has been formally detained in this case. A special investigation team has been formed to investigate the incident. Protests have been taking place in the Red Zone of Quetta to demand justice for the victims\’ families.   • CJP takes suo motu notice over delay in K-P, Punjab elections | The Express Tribune

    The Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a nine-member larger bench, led by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, to hear a suo motu matter regarding the announcement of date to hold elections for Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies. This follows a petition filed by Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and a division bench\’s warning that there was an eminent danger of violation of the Constitution. The bench will consider three questions, if deemed appropriate: who has the constitutional responsibility and authority for appointing the date for the holding of a general election to a provincial assembly, upon its dissolution in the various situations envisaged by and under the Constitution; how and when is this constitutional responsibility to be discharged; and what are the constitutional responsibilities and duties of the federation and the province with regard to the holding of the general election. With the Supreme Court taking up this important matter, the citizens of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have the assurance that the constitutional and legal requirements for holding elections in the two provinces will be fulfilled.
