  • ‘One more conspiracy is being hatched to assassinate Imran’, alleges Babar Awan

    اسلام آباد: پاکستان تحریک انصاف (پی ٹی آئی) کے رہنما بابر اعوان نے جمعہ کے روز کہا کہ سابق وزیر اعظم عمران خان پر ایک اور حملے کے امکانات ہیں، ان کا دعویٰ ہے کہ ان کی پارٹی کو پی ٹی آئی کے سربراہ کو قتل کرنے کی تیاریوں کی اطلاعات موصول ہوئی ہیں۔

    پریس کانفرنس کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ سابق گورنر پنجاب سلمان تاثیر اور لیاقت باغ (بے نظیر بھٹو) کے فارمولے پر عمران خان کو قتل کرنے پر غور کیا جا رہا ہے۔

    انہوں نے خبردار کیا کہ اسلام آباد جوڈیشل کمپلیکس میں اسنائپرز یا خودکش بمبار کے ذریعے عمران خان کو قتل کرنے کی ایک اور سازش رچی جا رہی ہے۔

    انہوں نے الزام لگایا کہ عمران خان کو اسلام آباد کی عدالتوں میں پیشی کے دوران قتل کرنے کی منصوبہ بندی میں ایک غیر ملکی ایجنسی ملوث ہے۔

    انہوں نے کہا کہ اگر عمران خان سے نواز شریف کی زندگی کی ضمانت مانگی جا سکتی ہے تو اب عمران خان کی زندگی کی ضمانت کون دے گا، انہوں نے مزید کہا، “عمران خان کی ذاتی سیکیورٹی ٹیم کو اب نشانہ بنایا جا رہا ہے کیونکہ جو لوگ انہیں قتل کرنا چاہتے ہیں وہ انہیں تنہا کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔ \”

    یہ مقدمات اسلام آباد میں کیوں بنائے جا رہے ہیں؟ پہلی بار عمران خان کی اسلام آباد جوڈیشل کمپلیکس آمد سے قبل سی سی ٹی وی کیمرے بند کر دیے گئے اور انسداد دہشت گردی عدالت (اے ٹی سی) سے سیکیورٹی مکمل طور پر ہٹا دی گئی۔ جوڈیشل کمپلیکس سے سیکیورٹی اہلکاروں کو کس نے بلایا؟ اس نے سوال کیا.

    اسلام آباد کے وکلاء کچہری (جوڈیشل کمپلیکس) کو موت کا جال سمجھتے ہیں۔

    انہوں نے کہا کہ پی ٹی آئی کے سربراہ کے ساتھ قانون کی حکمرانی سے نمٹا جانا چاہیے لیکن انہیں عدالت میں عملی طور پر پیش ہونے کی بھی اجازت ہونی چاہیے، عمران خان کو عدالت میں عملی طور پر پیش ہونے کی اجازت کیوں نہیں دی جا سکتی جب کہ ان کے حملہ آور کو ایسا کرنے کی اجازت دی جا سکتی ہے۔ .

    اعوان نے کہا کہ عمران خان کو ان کی ذاتی سیکیورٹی سے محروم کرنے کے لیے ان کے پرسنل سیکیورٹی اسٹاف کے خلاف مقدمات درج کیے جارہے ہیں، پی ٹی آئی چیف کے سیکیورٹی انچارج احمد نیازی کو ایسے کیسز کا سامنا ہے۔

    اعوان نے انکشاف کیا کہ انہیں اطلاع ملی تھی کہ خان کو کچہری بلایا جائے گا اور وہاں قتل کیا جائے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پی ٹی آئی چیئرمین پر زور دیا جا رہا ہے کہ وہ باہر آئیں اور عدالت میں پیش ہوں۔

    پی ٹی آئی کے سربراہ کے خلاف دو طرح کے کیسز ہیں۔ مئی میں ہونے والے ظلم کے مقدمات بھی ہمارے خلاف درج ہو رہے ہیں۔ [the PTI]\”اس نے افسوس کا اظہار کیا۔

    انہوں نے کہا کہ پارٹی کے 120 کے قریب کارکنوں کو حراست میں لیا گیا ہے، ماضی میں کچہریوں میں متعدد قتل ہو چکے ہیں۔

    اعوان نے کہا کہ وزیر آباد واقعے کی پہلی تحقیقاتی رپورٹ (ایف آئی آر) ضرور درج کی جائے گی اور مطالبہ کیا کہ وزیر اعظم شہباز شریف اور ان کی حکومت پی ٹی آئی کو تحریری طور پر دیں کہ اگر خان کو کچھ ہوا تو اس کی ذمہ دار ان کی حکومت ہوگی۔

    عمران خان کی تنقید کا جواب حکومت مہنگائی میں کمی کے لیےمریم نے کہا کہ عمران کو حکومت سے سوال کرنے کا کوئی حق نہیں ہے، کیونکہ یہ ان کی خراب حکمرانی تھی جس نے ملک کو اس صورتحال سے دوچار کیا۔

    انہوں نے سوال کیا کہ آئی ایم ایف کے ساتھ معاہدہ کرنے کے بعد آپ مہنگائی پر سوال کیسے اٹھا سکتے ہیں۔

    مریم نے سابق وزیر اعلیٰ چوہدری پرویز الٰہی پر بھی تنقید کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ عمران نے اپنی پارٹی کا سب سے بڑا قلمدان پنجاب کے سب سے بڑے چور کو دے دیا ہے۔

    انہوں نے گوجرانوالہ کے عوام سے کہا کہ وہ الیکشن کے لیے تیار ہو جائیں اور مسلم لیگ (ن) کا ساتھ دیں۔

  • SC rejects plea seeking probe of cipher at centre of Imran’s ‘foreign conspiracy’ claims

    The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected all three pleas seeking an investigation into a cipher — presented by PTI Chairman Imran Khan in March 2022 as evidence of a “foreign conspiracy” to oust him.

    Justice Qazi Faez Isa pronounced the verdict today after conducting an in-chamber hearing on pleas filed by Advocate Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta, Syed Tariq Badar and Advocate Naeemul Hasan last year.

    The petitions had sought the constitution of a “high-powered commission” to probe the alleged “foreign conspiracy” that Imran claimed was hatched to topple his government.

    They had named the Federation of Pakistan through the law and justice secretary, the prime minister, and the cabinet secretary as respondents in the case.

    However, the applications had been returned earlier over objections by the Registrar’s Office. Subsequently, the petitioner filed fresh pleas in the court against these objections.

    It is a common practice of the court office to sometimes return petitions by raising objections like questioning why the petitioner has approached the apex court directly without exhausting other available forums first. Such rejections are usually challenged by the petitioners and are taken up by a judge in his chamber as nominated by the chief justice.

    Earlier, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood recused himself from a hearing scheduled for Jan 24 and had sent the pleas back to the top judge.

    The hearing

    At the outset of today’s hearing, Justice Isa asked: “Is dealing with foreign affairs the job of the court? Did Imran Khan make any decision to investigate the matter as the prime minister?”

    He added: “Imran Khan had all the powers to have an investigation conducted. All authorities are under the prime minister.”

    He asked: “What should the court do in the cipher’s matter?”

    When the petitioner’s counsel termed the investigations a “matter of fundamental rights”, Justice Isa asked: “What impact did the cipher have on your or my life? There is no matter of fundamental rights in this case.”

    He further said: “Do you want that the entire world’s ciphers are sent to the Supreme Court instead of the foreign ministry? If there is any attack in the future, would the Supreme Court announce war?”

    At one point during the hearing, Justice Isa said if the government wants, it can make public the ciphers, but if anyone else does it, it would be a violation of the [Officials] Secret Act.

    He further remarked: “If the prime minister wants, he can use his authority to end relations with the world.”

    Justice Isa said, “If someone is not even eligible to become the prime minister, there is a remedy for this as well. Whoever’s job it is, let them do it. The judiciary cannot interfere in the executive’s matters.”

    Upon the petitioner’s lawyer saying that the “court has to see who is doing what”, the judge said that “elders have forbidden me from seeing anything”.

    The controversy surrounding the no-confidence motion against Imran took a dramatic turn when the embattled former premier brandished a letter at a rally on March 27 — days before his ouster — claiming it contained evidence of a “foreign conspiracy” hatched to topple his government.

    Imran had kept mum about the contents of the letter when he first unveiled it but he spilled the beans days later by naming the United States when the exit of his government appeared imminent.

    Imran’s allegation that the US spearheaded his exit from power was based on a cypher received from Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Asad Majeed, in which the envoy had reported about a meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Affairs Donald Lu.

    Majeed had reportedly said that Donald Lu warned that Imran Khan’s continuation in office, who was set to face a vote of no confidence, would have repercussions on bilateral relations.

    The US was said to be annoyed with Imran over his “independent foreign policy” and visit to Moscow.

    The Pentagon and the State Department have repeatedly rejected the accusations, saying there was no veracity to them.

    The National Security Committee (NSC), which includes all services chiefs as well as the head of Pakistan’s top intelligence agency, took up the matter on March 31 with then-premier Imran in the chair. The forum decided to issue a “strong demarche” to a country that it did not name over what it termed as “blatant interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan”.

    It had also termed the interference “unacceptable under any circumstances” and said the language used in the communique was undiplomatic.

    While the forum had stopped short of calling the interference a conspiracy at the time, another meeting of the NSC was held on April 22 with newly elected premier Shehbaz Sharif in the chair, and which included the same military chiefs who attended the March 31 session.

    During its second meeting, the NSC statement said it “reaffirmed the decisions of the last NSC meeting” and explicitly went on to add that it found no evidence of a foreign conspiracy.

    Addressing a press conference, the minister said the underprivileged segments of society were suffering because of the former premier’s \’thefts and robberies\’.

    Marriyum maintained that Imran was evading cases before various institutions including high courts, district courts, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as he did not have any answers.

    “After several abandoned plans in the past nine months, he has hatched a new conspiracy in the form of the Jail Bharo movement,” she said, adding the movement should be called Jail Bacho (save from incarceration).

    Calling the movement a “drama”, she questioned why 200 innocent people were being arrested when Imran Khan was the one being summoned and PTI leaders were being asked about the cypher cnspiracy and Toshakhana (gift depository) case.

    “These are not political arrests, these are criminal arrests,\” she stated and reiterated that Imran needed to give answers.

    “Nawaz Sharif went to jail with his children. You [Imran] stay in your Zaman Park bunker with your children roaming in Britain,” she said and asked why others should go to jail while the \”criminal\” was sitting in his residence.

    She maintained that the Jail Bharo movement was not for the populace, but was rather a conspiracy against the country.

    “If you sympathized with the country why did you ruin foreign relations and hike petrol, LNG, sugar, and flour prices during your tenure,” she questioned.

    She stated that Imran alleged a foreign conspiracy after his ouster and now claims that there was no conspiracy.

    “He filled his pockets during his term and left. After the constitutional vote of no confidence against him, he forced ministers, the National Assembly speaker and the president to behave in an unconstitutional manner,” she added.

    The information minister continued that he asked his supporters to storm the Lahore High Court (LHC) when the court summoned him, thereby leading people astray and attacking the judiciary.

    “He will not stop,” she said.

    According to the minister, the ‘Jail Bharo’ “drama” should begin with Imran’s arrest after he “robbed and harmed the country” but had no answers for anything.

    “That is why he is starting this movement,” she added.

    Marriyum maintained that the “performance” needed to be shut down.

    Imran Khan on Wednesday officially announced the beginning of the party\’s Jail Bharo Tehreek – a drive to court arrests in an effort to register its protest against the \”attack\” on fundamental rights and the economic \”meltdown\” brought on by the incumbent government.

    Taking to Twitter, the former premier elaborated upon two reasons behind the protest movement: \”One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights […] Two, it is against the economic meltdown brought on by cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth and gotten NROs for themselves while crushing the people, especially the poor and middle class, under the burden of spiralling inflation and rising unemployment.\”

    The information minister continued that he asked his supporters to storm the Lahore High Court (LHC) when the court summoned him, thereby leading people astray and attacking the judiciary.

    “He will not stop,” she said.

    According to the minister, the ‘Jail Bharo’ “drama” should begin with Imran’s arrest after he “robbed and harmed the country” but had no answers for anything.

    “That is why he is starting this movement,” she added.

    Imran Khan on Wednesday officially announced the beginning of the party\’s Jail Bharo Tehreek – a drive to court arrests in an effort to register its protest against the \”attack\” on fundamental rights and the economic \”meltdown\” brought on by the incumbent government.

    Taking to Twitter, the former premier elaborated upon two reasons behind the protest movement: \”One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights […] Two, it is against the economic meltdown brought on by cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth and gotten NROs for themselves while crushing the people, especially the poor and middle class, under the burden of spiralling inflation and rising unemployment.\”

    اسلام آباد پولیس نے اے ایم ایل کے سربراہ کے خلاف عدالت میں چالان پیش کیا اور جوڈیشل مجسٹریٹ عمر بشیر نے فرد جرم کے لیے 2 مارچ کی تاریخ مقرر کی۔

    سماعت کے دوران راشد نے عدالت سے استدعا کی کہ 15 مارچ کی تاریخ دی جائے کیونکہ انہوں نے ایک کانفرنس میں شرکت کرنی ہے جس پر عدالت نے جواب دیا کہ ہائی کورٹ کے احکامات جاری ہو چکے ہیں وہ معاملے کو طول نہیں دے سکتے۔

    درخواست میں کہا گیا کہ ایس ایچ او نے دھمکی دی کہ وہ راشد کو سبق سکھانے آیا ہے۔

    راشد نے کہا کہ 2 فروری کو صبح 12:30 بجے 150 سے 200 افراد جن میں کچھ وردی میں تھے اور کچھ بغیر وردی کے، دروازہ توڑ کر میرے گھر میں داخل ہوئے اور بغیر وارنٹ کے مجھے گرفتار کر لیا۔

    اے ایم ایل کے سربراہ نے درخواست میں مزید کہا کہ پولیس لائسنس یافتہ ہتھیار، تحفے میں دی گئی گھڑیاں، دو موبائل فون، 0.274 ملین اور دو بلٹ پروف گاڑیاں اپنے ساتھ لے گئی۔

    جوڈیشل مجسٹریٹ نے ریمارکس دیئے کہ درخواست قبول کرنا ان کا اختیار نہیں ہے اور اے ایم ایل کے سربراہ کو درخواست سیشن جج کی عدالت میں جمع کرانے کی ہدایت کی۔
