On Friday, Islamabad United recorded a comprehensive 63-run win over Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League season eight (PSL 8). Azam Khan\’s 42-ball 97 and Abrar Ahmed\’s incisive bowling were the highlights of the match. Islamabad posted a massive 221-run target, which Quetta failed to achieve, skittling out to 157 in the 20th over. Islamabad\’s top order was quickly removed, but Azam Khan and Asif Ali put up a blistering 98-run partnership in just 46 balls to help their side post 220/6 on the board. Quetta\’s Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Hafeez put up a 74-run stand, but their last five wickets went down for just 30 runs. Islamabad United now sit in second place in the points table, just below Multan Sultans who are at the top with eight points. The tournament will take a one-day break, before Karachi Kings face Multan Sultans in the first game on Sunday, and Lahore Qalandars play Peshawar Zalmi in the second game. Since the tournament\’s inception in 2016, Islamabad United have won twice, followed by Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans, who won the 2021 season.
