On Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, and Senator Azam Swati, presented themselves for arrest as the party\’s \’Jail Bharo Tehreek\’ (court arrest drive) commenced from Lahore. The campaign was initiated by Imran Khan to counter the alleged attack on the party\’s fundamental rights and the economic \”meltdown\”. The PTI shared footage of party leaders sitting inside a police van and claimed that those responsible for making the arrests had \”vanished\”. The movement is planned to take place in Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Sahiwal. In a series of tweets, Imran Khan said the drive was against the attack on the party\’s constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights and the economic meltdown brought on by a cabal of crooks. PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry said that all arrangements for the \”court arrest drive\” were complete and that the party was ready for the movement. However, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb have both criticized the PTI\’s \’Jail Bharo Tehreek\’ as a show to create political instability in the country. PTI leaders have urged the nation to prepare for the campaign and join them in the fight for true freedom.
