China’s Baidu says 2022 revenue fell 1%, flags ‘Ernie’ chatbot

Baidu, China\’s largest online search engine, reported a slight decline in revenue for the year 2022. However, the company is making long-term investments in artificial intelligence and plans to launch its AI chatbot Ernie in March, integrating it into several services. This is part of a larger effort by the Chinese tech industry to expand after the government began easing its Covid restrictions in December. As the company prepares for better times, Baidu is hoping to take advantage of the economic recovery in China and reaccelerate its revenue growth in 2023.
