Ukraine\’s struggle against Russia is entering its second year with no end in sight. However, the country will need continued support from the West to ensure their security against a Russian regime that does not acknowledge their right to exist. Plan A for Ukraine may be membership in NATO, but that is unlikely to happen due to their ongoing border disputes. Plan B is to be closely affiliated with the West and build a powerful military to protect their independence. This strategy has its challenges, and the US and its allies will have to fund Ukraine\’s defense for the foreseeable future.
