Future Fields is a Canadian company that has come up with a more cost-effective and sustainable way to mass produce raw materials needed to make things like medicine, vaccines and cultivated meat. They are using fruit flies instead of giant steel tanks for recombinant protein production, which is faster and more scalable. They have recently raised $11.2 million in seed extension funding and are building a production facility next to their corporate headquarters in Edmonton, Canada. The EntoEngine technology provides a suite of human recombinant protein products for medical research and biopharmaceuticals, and it is able to generate proteins every day with the same footprint and same infrastructure.
