Mastern America, the US-focused property investing arm of Korean firm Mastern Investment Management, will allow individual investors to plough cash into its portfolio. Although real estate investment has traditionally been the preserve of institutional investors, Joseph Oh, CEO of Mastern America, sees potential in opening up the market to a wider range of investors. To this end, the firm has reportedly inked a deal with US proptech Koriny to boost its portfolio range. Mastern America hopes its expansion into the US middle-market sector will boost its growth. Mastern Investment Management currently manages assets valued at KRW30tn ($23.5bn), including real estate funds and project financing vehicles. Earlier this year, Mastern America became the first Korean firm to join the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, which is aimed at boosting foreign capital flows into US commercial property.
