  • Cement: Prices spiral

    گزشتہ چار ہفتوں کے دوران سیمنٹ کی قیمتوں میں اوسطاً 38 روپے کا اضافہ ہوا ہے۔ ان میں سے صرف ایک ہفتے میں، 26 جنوری 2023 سے 2 فروری 2023 کے درمیان، پاکستان بیورو آف سٹیٹسٹکس کے اعداد و شمار سے پتہ چلتا ہے کہ سیمنٹ کی قیمتوں میں 22 روپے کا اضافہ ہوا جو کہ ملک بھر کی تقریباً 17 مارکیٹوں میں اوسطاً ہے۔ رواں مالی سال جولائی تا فروری کے عرصے میں گزشتہ سال کی اسی مدت کے مقابلے میں اوسط قیمتوں میں 47 فیصد اضافہ ہوا، جہاں کچھ شمالی منڈیوں میں قیمتوں میں اضافہ ریکارڈ کیا گیا اس سے بھی زیادہ ہے۔ حکومت کا سپلیمنٹری فنانس بل سیمنٹ پر ایف ای ڈی بڑھانے کے لیے تیار ہے جس سے اجناس آج کے مقابلے میں مزید مہنگی ہو جائے گی۔ زیادہ سیلز ٹیکس کے ساتھ قیمتوں پر 40 روپے تک اثر پڑ سکتا ہے۔

    جب کہ مالی سال کے دوران سات ماہ کے عرصے میں سیمنٹ کی خرید میں سال بہ سال 18 فیصد کمی واقع ہوئی ہے، جہاں گھریلو فروخت میں 14 فیصد اور برآمدات میں 46 فیصد کمی آئی ہے، قیمتوں میں زیادہ تر اضافہ ہوا ہے، جس نے نرمی سے انکار کر دیا ہے۔ سیمنٹ مینوفیکچررز قیمتوں کو اونچا رکھ رہے ہیں، شاید ترسیل کی قیمت پر، لیکن ایک ایسا فیصلہ جس نے زیادہ تر ان کی آمدنی میں اضافے کو سازگار رکھنے میں مدد کی ہے، اور ان کے مارجن کو گرنے سے بچایا ہے کیونکہ طلب میں کمی اور مہنگائی دونوں ہی پریشانی کا باعث ہیں۔
