Citizenship Skills Support Durable Pathways

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to rethink viable pathways for learners to gain access to a family-sustaining wage. This requires integrating citizenship skills such as digital literacy, understanding systems, storytelling and civil dialogue into new pathways. Organizations such as ProCon.org, iCivics, Facing History & Ourselves, Mikva Challenge, Educating for American Democracy and Institute for Citizens & Scholars are leading the charge in providing resources and tools to develop these skills. To ensure the success of learners and employers, it is important to build capacity in our culture to build deep relationships focused on community success. By doing this, we can create more possible futures for everyone and more durable, sustainable and thriving communities and economies.
