  • G20 meeting ends in discord as Russia and China refuse to condemn Ukraine war

کے مطابق لی مائر نے کہا کہ ان کے مطابق \”بھارت جنگ کی مذمت کرنے والے ارکان میں شامل تھا۔\”

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors met in Buenos Aires this week, and after much debate the meeting ended without agreement on condemning Russia and China for their attacks on Ukraine and denouncing the use of chemical weapons. India, which currently holds the G20 presidency, instead issued a \”Chair\’s Summary and Conclusions\” which was supported by 17 out of the 20 members, including the world\’s most advanced and developed economies. Russia and China did not support this. The conclusions also reaffirmed the positions taken at the Leaders\’ Summit last year, in which they expressed \”utmost concern\” in the \”strongest terms\” about the war and Russia\’s demand for a \”unconditional and immediate\” withdrawal from Ukraine. The communique also stated that the use of chemical weapons or the threat of their use is \”unacceptable\”. The Indian Ministry of Finance stated that the Russian and Chinese representatives, who did not participate in the Buenos Aires meeting personally, voted against the communique because it was outside of their mandate. They said that the other members \”felt strongly that the war has global implications and that it was the right thing to do\”. The communique also stated that more than just Russia and China had \”strongly condemned\” the war in Ukraine, according to which \”there are severe consequences for human suffering and existing weaknesses in the global economy\”. The debate within the G20 has highlighted the members\’ positions on the war. The communique stated that, in addition to Russia and China, \”many\” had strongly condemned the war in Ukraine, which \”increases human suffering and existing weaknesses in the global economy\”. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said that France would not sign any statement that did not include the conclusions of the Leaders\’ Summit last year. According to Reuters, Le Maire said that \”India was among those who condemned the war,\” according to which \”France was also among those who condemned the war.\”

  • No joint statement but most G-20 nations condemn war in Ukraine

On October, the G-20 group of large economies\’ fiscal chiefs met in an Indian city in Southern India to conclude their meeting without any agreement on Ukraine conflict. The group\’s most prominent finance ministers and central bankers, who have not made any joint statement in their last three meetings, said \”strongly condemn the conflict in Ukraine and strongly condemn the fact that it is causing indefensible human suffering and exacerbating existing inequalities in the global economy\”. The statement and results of the meeting were summarized and agreed by all members, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

Indian Prime Minister has asked G-20 fiscal chiefs to address the rising prices in India, while Japanese Prime Minister has failed to bring consensus in the G-20 meeting to restore the economy. The statement strongly condemned Russia\’s stance and stated that there are negative consequences of the Ukrainian crisis, including high deficits, resurgence of infectious diseases, and tax situations.

Overall, the G-20 members agreed that the global economy is still facing a slow recovery, and there are negative risks including high deficits, resurgence of infectious diseases, and tax situations. The statement also mentioned that the Ukrainian crisis is hindering economic growth and creating inequalities.
