PPP’s Senator Taj Haider has written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja expressing concern about PPP candidates in Punjab being denied the ‘arrow’ symbol. The issue of incorrect symbols for PPP candidates has arisen during the party’s election campaign in Punjab. The senator urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to issue the ‘arrow’ symbol to the affected candidates, as per the Election Act. He emphasized that denying party symbols to candidates could lead to undesirable outcomes and was contrary to the Constitution. PPP leader Sherry Rehman also expressed concern over this issue and demanded that the correct symbols be issued to the party’s candidates. She highlighted that one candidate was given a ‘kettle’ symbol and the other an ‘wheelchair’ instead of the ‘arrow’. The party hopes that these irregularities will be corrected soon.
