Caretaker Privatisation Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad has completed the legal process for the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). He said that the Privatization Commission is working on the task. The process includes representatives of Civil Aviation Authority and ministries of education, law, and finance to ensure transparency. The decision to privatise the PIA was made by the previous government to prevent further damage to the economy. The minister denied rumors of a foreign government buying the PIA and assured that employees’ rights would be protected. He also highlighted the governance and financial mismanagement issues facing the national airline and stressed the need for reforms. The minister also confirmed that the general elections would be held as scheduled on February 8 and the caretaker government supports the Election Commission of Pakistan.
