Former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested by Rawalpindi police in connection to a dozen cases, including the attack on the General Headquarters. He and former first lady Bushra Bibi were indicted in the Toshakhana reference for retaining gifts received from heads of states during his tenure. The court charged Mr Khan with securing these gifts at low prices. Imran Khan said he was being punished for ‘reining in powerful quarters’ and that the witnesses against him included an office boy. The Rawalpindi Police arrested Imran Khan in connection with May 9 protests. The accountability judge dismissed the petitions of Mr Khan seeking post-arrest bail in the Toshakhana reference and Al-Qadir Trust case involving 190 million pounds. Malik Riaz’s properties were also attached by the court. The PTI clarified that an article published in The Economist was authored by Mr. Khan.
