The death toll from an attack on a police van in Bajaur, Pakistan has risen to seven. The attack was claimed by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and has resulted in the postponement of the polio reduction campaign in the area. Nine more people were wounded in the attack and are being treated. Political parties in the area have called off election campaigns and events to show solidarity with the victims and their families. Security for anti-polio campaigns in the province has been increased.
The attack in Bajaur is part of a spike in terror attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the KP and Balochistan provinces.
