Emirates Airline, based in Dubai, expects strong growth in Pakistan in the coming years. The vice president of Pakistan for Emirates Airline, Mohammed Alnahari Alhashmi, mentioned this in an interview with Business Recorder. They have a significant presence in Pakistan, with around a dozen flights to Dubai daily from various cities. Alhashmi also discussed the demand for flights to the US and the UK from Pakistan and the significant number of Pakistani visitors to Dubai.
Emirates Group, which includes Emirates Airline and dnata, reported a record net profit for the 2023-24 half-year. However, excessive taxation has hindered the growth of the aviation sector in Pakistan. The government may announce new tax incentives for the aviation sector to attract foreign investment.
The revised National Aviation Policy- 2023 could grant industry status to the aviation sector, bringing tax benefits. The caretaker government is considering declaring aviation as an industry with proposed taxes, duties, and incentives. This could help to promote growth in the aviation sector in Pakistan.
