Two more passengers tested positive for Covid at Karachi airport. The passengers arrived from Jeddah and Sharjah and were found to be infected with Covid through a Rapid Antigen Test. Their samples have been sent for detailed analysis to determine the Covid variant they have. The passengers have been advised to quarantine themselves and have left for their respective homes. Earlier, two international travellers also tested positive for Covid at the Karachi airport and were allowed to leave for their hometowns after being advised to quarantine. Screening for Covid at airports has resumed due to the emerging threat of a new Covid variant, JN.I, which is highly contagious. Experts say that the JN.1 variant is more transmissible than other variants and the proportion of cases caused by this virus is rising. The results of the detailed analysis are expected in at least five days.
