Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of JUI-F, will visit Kabul today. He was invited by the Afghan interim government last month. The visit will be his first since the Taliban took over in 2021. The visit is happening as Pakistan and Afghanistan’s relations are tense due to an increase in terrorist attacks, claimed by Tehreek-i-Taliban. The Pakistan government has accused the Taliban of using their soil against Pakistan, which the Taliban have denied. The caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan also mentioned an increase in terrorism since the Taliban took over. A report by a Pakistan think tank also stated that most terrorism-related deaths in 2023 were caused by three major groups, including the TTP. Maulana Fazl has said that he will discuss the TTP issue during his visit to Afghanistan and also meet with Taliban leaders to use his contacts for the benefit of both countries.
