The Senate Standing Committee on Interior in Pakistan has directed authorities to ban websites with questionable material to stop children from being exposed to online pornography. The committee was informed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) are already taking steps to control this issue. They have set up a special unit to counter online child abuse and have registered FIRs against offenders. The committee also discussed bills about tree cutting and street vendors, but deferred decisions until the next meeting. The bill against tree cutting aims to protect the environment of the city and prevent the cutting down of centuries-old trees. The bill about street vendors aims to protect them from vandalism and provide a secure livelihood. There was also a bill about the National Database and Registration Authority, but the committee deferred discussions on that too. The next meeting will continue deliberations on these important issues.
