The Cabinet Division has formed a committee to investigate the violence that happened on May 9, 2023, after the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan. The military also plans to try the rioters under relevant laws. Many PTI activists have already gone through trials in military courts and some party leaders have resigned. The caretaker government formed a committee to look into the incidents as well. This committee will have the representation of different ministers and will examine the causes and implications of the events. It will also suggest preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future and recommend ways to strengthen the legal system. The Ministry of Interior will support the committee, and it has 14 days to submit its report to the cabinet. This is all in response to the violent events that followed Imran Khan’s arrest, and the government wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
