The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested nine suspects connected to banned groups in different operations. They conducted 70 intelligence-based operations in various parts of the province and interrogated 69 suspects, leading to the arrest of nine individuals. Two of the arrested suspects were linked to Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, one to Daesh, and three to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The CTD also apprehended two individuals connected to Sipah-e-Sahaba and one linked to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent. Eight FIRs were registered against the suspects in Lahore, Bahawalpur, and Gujranwala. During the operations, law enforcers seized weapons, explosives, banned books, and other related items. The CTD also conducted 314 operations with local police and security agencies, resulting in 47 more arrests and 48 FIRs. Last week, the department claimed to have arrested 14 suspected militants planning to sabotage the province and target important installations.
