University of Arizona researchers have created a wearable device system that can send health data up to 15 miles without needing much infrastructure. This new system uses a low power wide area network called LoRa and is designed to be small and unobtrusive. The device is custom 3D printed to fit the user and can be worn on the low forearm for continuous health monitoring. It can also recharge without needing to be removed. The researchers hope this technology can be used to aid remote monitoring in rural communities and in war zones. They want to make digital health more accessible regardless of geographical or resource constraints.
