Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar called for developed countries to help developing countries with climate adaptation through financial and technical support. He stressed the need for the COP28 summit to highlight the gap between finances and the needs of developing countries. A Loss and Damage fund was created with more than $400 million in pledges, which was welcomed by poor nations coping with natural disasters. PM Kakar emphasized the need for financial, technology, and capacity-building support for climate adaptation. He also urged for greater coherence and coordination from the United Nations system to assist developing countries with capacity-building support. PM Kakar’s comments at the COP28 summit echoed previous remarks made at the Climate Ambition Summit in New York, where he emphasized the adverse impact of climate change on developing countries like Pakistan. He highlighted the vulnerability of Pakistan to natural disasters and the need to address global warming.
