A special court ruled that the case against Imran Khan will continue at Adiala Jail, but it will be held in an open court. The Judge presided over the hearing in Islamabad after the Islamabad High Court nullified a previous notification to hold the trial in jail. Jail authorities stated that Imran and Shah Mahmood Qureshi cannot be brought to court due to security concerns. They submitted a report saying that Imran faces threats to his life and requested additional security. The special court had directed that both Imran and Qureshi be brought to court on November 28 for the cipher case hearing. Imran is currently in Adiala Jail after being indicted by the court in the cipher case. The case is related to the “misuse” of alleged diplomatic cipher contents cited by Imran as proof of an attempt to remove his government. Last month, the special court indicted both Imran and Qureshi in the case.
