Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser was sent to jail on a four-day judicial remand by a court in Mardan. He was initially arrested for causing losses to the national exchequer and was granted bail but re-arrested later for violent protests on May 9. Three cases were registered against him in connection with the violence. The court rejected the request for his physical remand and directed police to present him on Nov 29. Qaiser released a video urging PTI supporters to continue their lawful struggle and aim for a two-thirds majority in the upcoming general election. He emphasized the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution and called for a level playing field for all political parties. He also expressed hope that the public would vote for PTI instead of the former prime minister.
