OpenAI has a new CEO, Emmett Shear, after the former CEO, Sam Altman, was suddenly fired. Shear was the co-founder of Twitch and has now taken on the role of interim CEO of OpenAI. This comes after Microsoft hired Altman and another co-founder, Greg Brockman, to create a new advanced AI research team. Shear resigned as the CEO of Twitch earlier this year.

He believes that OpenAI is one of the most important companies in existence and plans to reform the management and leadership teams as well as hire an independent investigator to look into Altman’s firing process. Shear also wants to address the concerns and build trust within the company, but he acknowledges that it may take longer than a month to see progress.

The situation has caused turmoil at OpenAI, and Shear aims to repair the company’s stability and success. He also reassures that the partnership with Microsoft remains strong and that he will ensure they continue to serve their customers well.
