An Islamabad accountability court ordered PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to testify in the Toshakhana case by November 30. The case alleges that Nawaz, Asif Ali Zardari, and Yousuf Raza Gilani received luxury vehicles and gifts from Toshakhana, a government repository. In June 2020, an arrest warrant was issued for Nawaz. He challenged it but later withdrew the petition. He was then declared a proclaimed offender and his properties were ordered to be confiscated. The court suspended his arrest warrants before his return to Pakistan. At the recent hearing, Nawaz’s lawyer requested the NAB to record his statement. The court granted the request and set a deadline of November 30 for the statement. The Toshakhana is a department that stores gifts given to rulers and officials. The case alleges that Nawaz and Zardari obtained cars from Toshakhana by paying only 15% of the price. The reference also states that Nawaz obtained illegal favors in connivance with the then prime minister. This case has been ongoing since 2020 and is related to the receiving of luxury vehicles and gifts from Toshakhana.
