They also discussed trade, economy, climate change, security, and regional stability. Sharif raised the issue of the Palestinian crisis and called for an end to hostilities and humanitarian assistance for the affected people. The US embassy released a statement about the meetings with political actors, emphasizing the importance of free, fair elections and the right of the Pakistani people to choose their future leaders. In a separate meeting, PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari met with the British High Commissioner, discussing the Israel-Palestine crisis and the progress of bilateral relations between the UK and Pakistan. He also extended birthday greetings and best wishes to Prince Charles and David Cameron.
