The Pakistan Army successfully stopped a terrorist attack on the Mianwali Training Air Base of the Pakistan Air Force. This comes after a recent series of attacks that resulted in the deaths of 17 soldiers in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attacks included a militant assault in Gwadar, a bomb explosion in Dera Ismail Khan, and a security operation in Lakki Marwat. The Inter-Services Public Relations reported that the terrorist attack on the Mianwali Training Air Base was foiled due to the swift response of the troops. Three alleged terrorists were neutralized while entering the base, and the remaining three were cornered. However, the attack did cause damage to three grounded aircraft and a fuel bowser. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism and is conducting a joint clearance and combing operation to completely secure the area. The Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), an affiliate of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack. The Prime Minister praised the Pakistan Air Force for thwarting the attack, while the interim interior minister called it a conspiracy to destabilize the country. Political figures including Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack and expressed support for the armed forces in their fight against terrorism.
