Asad Qaiser, a former National Assembly speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader, has been arrested in Islamabad. The arrest was made during a joint raid by the Anti-Corruption Establishment and the capital police. The Anti-Corruption Establishment sought help from the capital police to arrest Qaiser related to a corruption case involving the purchase of medical equipment for a school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After the arrest, Qaiser was taken to an undisclosed location for further legal proceedings. He is expected to be presented in court on Saturday to seek permission to transfer him to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This news was published in Dawn on November 4th, 2023.
