During Apple’s “Scary Fast” event, they announced new M3-powered versions of the MacBook Pro, along with a new iMac. The new laptops can be configured with the M3, M3 Pro, or M3 Max chip, all of which offer larger performance gains than the previous M2 chip. The laptops are available for pre-order and will be released in November. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro now has the M3 chip, half the RAM, less storage, and fewer GPU and CPU cores, making it the new entry-level model starting at $1,599. The design of the MacBook Pros remains similar to the previous models, with the addition of a black color option. The M3 chips offer more memory and power-efficient performance, with up to 36GB of RAM for the Pro chips and up to 128GB of RAM for the Max chip. The M3 chips are faster and more power-efficient than the M1 chips, with each laptop in the M3 family lasting up to 22 hours. The M3 Max chip has a 16-core CPU and up to a 40-core GPU, with GPU performance that’s 80% faster than the M1 Max. The M3 chips also support Dynamic Caching tech, which improves performance in demanding games and apps.
