Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi reached a significant milestone in his career as he took his 100th wicket in one-day internationals (ODIs) during the World Cup match against Bangladesh in Kolkata. Shaheen dismissed Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan for no runs with the fifth delivery of his first over. This achievement came in Shaheen’s 51st ODI match. He now joins the elite group of 21 bowlers from Pakistan who have taken 100 or more wickets in ODIs. Wasim Akram, a former left-arm pacer, holds the top position on this list with 502 wickets in 356 matches. Shaheen, who made his ODI debut in 2018, has emerged as one of the leading new ball bowlers in all formats of the game. Apart from his success in ODIs, he has also taken 105 wickets in 27 Test matches and 64 wickets in 52 Twenty20 internationals.
