India won the first archery gold at the Asian Games by defeating South Korea. In the mixed-team compound event, the Indian duo of Ojas Deotale and Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured a victory by one point. India is also guaranteed at least a silver medal in the women’s compound individual event, and there will be an all-Indian final in the men’s compound event. Abhishek Verma will face Deotale for the gold medal. Deotale expressed his happiness and confidence in winning the gold for his country. Another notable winner was Hong Kong’s Yang Qianyu, who won gold in the women’s cycling road race. In men’s cricket, Afghanistan beat defending champions Sri Lanka by eight runs to reach the semi-finals. Neeraj Chopra, India’s world and Olympic champion, is expected to win gold in the men’s javelin event. Pakistani rival Arshad Nadeem will not compete due to a knee problem. Mutaz Essa Barshim, a three-time world champion in high jump, will also be competing. Barshim stated the importance of the Asian Games as a preparation for the Olympics.
