The Islamabad High Court will hear Imran Khan’s bail plea in the cipher case on September 25. The case is about the misuse of a diplomatic cipher that Imran claimed was proof of an attempt to remove his government. Imran is currently in Attock Jail. On September 16, a bail plea was filed by Imran’s counsel Salman Safdar, naming the State and Interior Ministry Secretary as respondents. This plea was filed after a special court rejected Imran’s bail applications. The special court judge later approved Imran’s petition to allow him to meet with his legal team and doctor in jail. The cipher case was registered against Imran and Shah Mahmood Qureshi under the Official Secrets Act. The FIR states that Imran and Qureshi communicated information from a secret document to the public, twisting facts for personal gain and undermining state security.
