PPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has advised the PML-N party not to seek action against former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-spymaster retired Lt-Gen Faiz Hamid. This comes after PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif blamed the two officials for his removal from power in 2017 and the country’s ongoing crises. Rana Sanaullah, another PML-N leader, also demanded action against the former generals. Khursheed Shah believes it is difficult for the PML-N to go after these military leaders. He urged the party to avoid such conflicts and focus on fair elections, managing inflation, adhering to democracy, and establishing good governance. He also mentioned that the PPP had faced pressure to rejoin the PDM coalition but left in April 2021. Khursheed Shah highlighted that some members of the PML-N were part of the current caretaker government, which is why the PPP demanded a level playing field in elections from them. He also suggested that the actual prime minister might be the secretary of the Establishment Division rather than Anwaarul Haq Kakar. When asked about the appointment of Kakar as interim PM, Shah confirmed that Shehbaz and Raja Riaz were given chits with the caretaker premier’s name written on them.
