Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar faced criticism, mostly from PTI activists, for comparing China’s strong ties to Pakistan to the support enjoyed by Israel from the US. He made the comparison during a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he discussed the relationship between Pakistan and China. The remarks were made in response to a question about the current state of the relationship. Some pointed out that the comparison may have been influenced by a quote from a book called “The China Pakistan Axis: Asia’s New Geopolitics”. PTI activists expressed their disapproval of the comparison, stating that Pakistan should be defined on its own terms and not compared to an apartheid state. Journalists, lawyers, and others also joined in the discussion, questioning the intent and significance of the Prime Minister’s words. Some argued that he was trying to establish a parallel between Pakistan’s relationship with China and the US relationship with Israel.
