The Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team, Inzamamul Haq, has announced the 18-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. The squad includes bowler Hasan Ali, who replaced injured bowler Naseem Shah. Shah injured his shoulder during the Asia Cup match against India. Another injured player, Haris Rauf, has also been included in the squad.

Inzamam explained that Ali was chosen because of his experience with a new ball. He described Ali as a “team man” who would bring energy to the team. Inzamam also shared that reports suggest Shah will remain on the sidelines even after the World Cup, which is why he wasn’t picked.

Inzamam mentioned that he did not make many changes to the team composition because the team has been playing with the same combination for the past two years. He believes that making too many changes within a short period of time would not be beneficial.

The announced squad consists of Babar Azam as captain, Shadab Khan as vice-captain, and players like Fakhar Zaman, Imamul Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Mohammad Haris, Abrar Ahmed, and Zaman Khan have been selected as reserve players.
