Shabbir Iqbal has won the Chief of Naval Staff Open Golf Championship for the third time in a row. He narrowly beat Ahmed Baig by one stroke in the final round. This victory marks Shabbir’s 14th title in the tournament’s 27 editions. Shabbir had suffered a defeat to Ahmed in last week’s Pakistan Open, but he avenged that loss by denying Ahmed his first title in this tournament. In the final round, Shabbir was one stroke behind the overnight leader Mohammad Shehzad, with Ahmed one stroke behind him. Shabbir and Ahmed battled it out for first place, and Shabbir secured victory with a birdie on the 17th hole, finishing with a total score of 12-under 274. Ahmed finished in second place, one stroke behind Shabbir. In the two-round junior professionals event, Rashid Baig emerged as the winner after a playoff against Abid Iqbal. In the senior professionals competition, Mohammad Tariq comfortably won by five shots. The hot and sunny afternoon saw a tense battle between Shabbir and Ahmed in the professionals’ leader flight, with Shabbir ultimately coming out on top with his birdie on the penultimate hole.
