Justice Qazi Faez Isa has been sworn in as the 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan. The ceremony took place at Aiwan-i-Sadr in Islamabad, with President Arif Alvi administering the oath. The event began with the reading of the Holy Quran, followed by the announcement of Justice Isa’s appointment. His wife, Sarina Isa, accompanied him during the ceremony. Justice Isa’s nomination was approved by President Arif Alvi on June 21. He has also been provided with security as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Justice Bandial, the outgoing Chief Justice, has expressed his best wishes for Justice Isa.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa was born on October 26, 1959, in Quetta. Before becoming a judge, he worked as a lawyer for over 27 years, practicing in various courts. He has served on the boards of important institutions in Pakistan, such as the largest bank, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Quaid-e-Azam Mazaar Management Board. Justice Isa has a strong desire to adhere to the Constitution and the Rule of Law in his judgments. He has also written a powerful dissenting opinion in a case that challenged the trial of civilians by military courts. He believes in safeguarding the public interest and protecting the rights of both the federal and provincial governments. Justice Isa took oath as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on September 5, 2014.
