Former PTI leader Raja Riaz has officially joined the PML-N, the party he opposed in the National Assembly. The PML-N confirmed this after Riaz met with party leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in London. Riaz expressed his confidence in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership during the meeting. Shehbaz announced Riaz’s membership in a media talk and hoped it would strengthen the party. Riaz thanked the Sharif brothers and vowed to improve the party and welcome Nawaz upon his return to Pakistan. He became the opposition leader in the National Assembly in 2022 after the PTI government was ousted but was later expelled by the party. Riaz’s decision to join the PML-N is not surprising, as he had previously expressed his desire to contest the next elections on a PML-N ticket. Former PTI colleague Fawad Chaudhry sarcastically remarked that Riaz had provided many services to the previous government as opposition leader, and his membership with the PML-N was a token of gratitude. PTI leader Taimur Jhagra criticized Riaz directly.
