The Caretaker Prime Minister, Awaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has stated that the government is working to make the power sector more efficient in order to prevent consumers from having to pay high electricity bills. He emphasized the need for coordination among different levels of responsibility and setting limits to their authority. The Prime Minister also talked about the importance of holding public officials accountable without causing the system to break down. He praised the changes made to the NAB law by the previous legislature, stating that it was good legislation. He added that the government will follow the advice of the legal department in determining its future actions. The Prime Minister mentioned that a comprehensive strategy involving the provinces has been implemented to combat electricity theft and smuggling, which is already showing positive results. In addition to tackling power theft, the ongoing campaign will also address issues related to non-payment and late payment of electricity dues.
