Three terrorists were killed and a Pakistani soldier was martyred in a shootout between security forces and militants in Quetta. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the militants had attacked a security forces’ post near Wali Tangi. During the exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed, and Subedar Qaiser Raheem was martyred while bravely performing his duty. Another soldier was seriously injured. The ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces will continue to combat the enemies of peace and prosperity in the country. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the National Assembly Speaker, condemned the attack and honored the martyred soldier. Terrorism has been increasing in Pakistan, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year. A report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies revealed that the first half of this year witnessed a sharp rise in terrorist and suicide attacks, resulting in the deaths of 389 people across the country.
