Pakistan has advised diplomats to consider how their activities are perceived by the public. This comes after the British High Commissioner and the US Ambassador to Pakistan met with the chief election commissioner. The Foreign Office spokesperson welcomed statements in support of free and fair elections and urged embassies to reflect on whether their activities contribute to democracy in Pakistan. The spokesperson also raised concerns about the misuse of the transit trade agreement with Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for compliance with Pakistani laws and agreements. Pakistan will address these concerns with Afghan authorities. The spokesperson clarified that the transit trade agreement does not include overland trade with India through the Wagah border. The spokesperson also highlighted the importance of the port of Gwadar under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and welcomed international cooperation and investments in the project. Pakistan considers all entities promoting terrorism as an equal threat and is committed to fighting them.
