Samsung Display has received a boost in its legal battle against Chinese company BOE Technology. The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has supported Samsung’s claims in five patent infringement cases against BOE. Claims are descriptions of the scope of patent rights, and their interpretation can significantly impact infringement rulings. This is unusual, as the USITC has taken Samsung’s side on all claim terms. The dispute began when Samsung accused BOE of infringing on its display patents, including its Diamond Pixel technology. BOE retaliated by filing a lawsuit against Samsung for patent infringement. Both companies have also taken legal action in the US and Chinese courts. The main trial at the USITC is set to start on January 22, with a verdict expected in June.
