The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned proceedings for a week in the case of missing anchorperson Imran Riaz. The Punjab police chief assured the court that the investigation is going in the right direction. Imran Riaz, a YouTuber and television anchor, was arrested following protests on May 9. He was later released but his whereabouts remain unknown. The journalist’s father filed a plea in the Lahore High Court for his recovery. In previous hearings, the Punjab Inspector General (IG) stated that there is positive progress in the case. The Punjab IG confirmed in court that they have updated Imran Riaz’s father and his lawyer about the progress of the case. The lawyer also acknowledged that the investigation is going in the correct direction. The hearing has been adjourned until September 20. Imran Riaz’s father expressed that he will only be satisfied once he sees his son standing in front of him. Previous proceedings in the case include orders to recover and present the anchorperson, efforts by various agencies to locate him, and reassurances from institutions that they are working to find him.
